MITT ROMNEY

Let He Who Is Without Makeup Cast The First Stone

Well, I'm sure this is going to spur some chuckles from rival campaigns, and Edwards supporters will be howling with outrage that it doesn't get more attention:

Well, "communications consulting" is how presidential candidate Mitt Romney recorded $300 in payments to a California company that describes itself as "a mobile beauty team for hair, makeup and men's grooming and spa services."

Romney spokesman Kevin Madden confirmed that the payments — actually two separate $150 charges — were for makeup, though he said the former Massachusetts governor had only one session with Hidden Beauty of West Hills, Calif. That was before the May 3 Republican presidential debate at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, Calif., co-sponsored by MSNBC and The Politico.

Ha ha ha. Of course, I'd be shocked if any candidate at that debate, or any other, didn't wear makeup.

Look, when I get called in by CNN, they're nice enough to provide a makeup person. And she does wonders. Those bags under my eyes? Gone! Crows-feet around my eyes? Poof, suddenly I look ironed! Any blemishes in my complexion that day? Abracadabra, watch 'em disappear! Just about every time she finishes, I'm thinking, "man, I wish I could have her doing this before I walk out the door every morning."

So I'm not gonna throw any stones at Romney over this.
